From early age I've been a photographer. It all started at young age with a small Fujifilm compact camera with film. That's me! I'm Marjolijn
In those days the whole process of photographing was much more exiting. It took at least days or more often weeks before you saw the results of pictures taken ealier when collecting the photos at the nearest photography shop. -

Together with my brother we sometimes changed one of our bedrooms into a dark room. The smell of the chemicals used, the red lamp, the exitement and finally of course the results showing up in the chemical baths was very fascinating to me.Our own dark room

With my first analoque reflexcamera I travelled accross the world and years afther the analoque era I changed into the digital era. No longer was needed to wait for the results, because they instantly showed up on a small display on the camera.Photo contest
The real exitement for the results had gone, but it opened possibilities in rural aereas around the world.
With this picture I won a photocontest of a mayor newspaper in The Netherlands and this photo was published in the newsapaper.

Wall art
My employer was looking for wall art in the office and asked me if I had photos of people made during my travels and if I was prepared to supply the company with ten photos enlarged to 60x80 centimeters with passe partout and a beautiful aluminium frame.
That was very successfull, many collegues of me wanted a photo for their wall and within weeks at several other locations tens of my photos decorated the walls.
They were all photos of very special people I was able to photograph during my travels; Himba's in Namibia, Hmong in Vietnam to monks in Tibet.

Facebook
I photographed our personell and the photos were used within the company for an online 'who-is who' album and externally for commercial activities.
This resulted in a professional and uniform representation of the company to our customers.

Photo Academy Amsterdam
Because I wanted to know more about the special photo techniques and because I wanted to operate as an professional prohographer I attended the Photo Academy in Amsterdam.
I feel that I can be creative when making photos and that it makes me real happy when I've a camera in my hands; the technique, the interaction with my clients, creating beautiful results.
